Civilian Space Travel

As travel by plane becomes more and more routine and basic, a new and more daring, and again faster, mode of transportation is rapidly becoming close to realty. Civilians in space has been the dream of many to make it a reality. Like the flight of planes in the early 20th century, this too has so far been reserved by a select few, highly trained personnel to work in the different conditions of space. But maybe space travel for civilians will be like travel in our atmosphere with commercial businesses in competition. This could create mass production of these civilian carrying spacecraft, lowering the cost and allowing everyone the liberty to take a flight around the earth, to the moon or beyond.
