Ships of the Future
| Man has been in space for only 40 years, but in that time it has accomplished more than even imagined. After only a dozen years, man had already stepped foot on the moon. A few years after that, probes were launched that are still flying further away from Earth each day, and are now more that seven billions away from their launch site. Man has studied other planets and has even found a few more in the time that it has been in space. Man-made objects have landed on other planets to study them in hope of setting up permanent settlements. |

The trek in space made enemies and formed friends. The United States and the Soviet Union, who were the only space adventurers until relatively recently, started off as enemies with the Space Race. After a short bit, they formed a space alliance with the Soyuz-Apollo link up. The cooperation in space aided to the political friendship that soon emerged between the two nations. The International Space Station, which will be complete in just a few years, will be a floating territory shared by a couple dozen nations, all of which contributed to the creation of the ISS. |
| It is predicted that in the near future, civilians will have easy access to space travel. Luxury liners that can take a few thousand people into space at once for a vacation are being designed. Many people hope that in the near future colonies will be established on the Moon and on Mars so that humans can work and live on them, and be able to travel back to Earth and any desired time. |
