Apollo 13

This was NASA's third lunar landing mission. It drew less attention than the first two but something three days into the mission would draw attention to it. A loud explosion heard by NASA and the astronauts was the loss of almost all of their power supply. Another problem was noticed: a gas leak from the ship. Two of the liquid oxygen tanks had been punctured. Apollo 13 would not beable to land on the moon. Using the landing module as a lifeboat, the astronauts did make it back to earth safely. This mission was known as a successful failure. The mission was not complete so it was a failure but the rescue of the astronauts was a success because no one died.
